Sometimes the Pigs Get Out..

It was a regular Wednesday morning (the day before July 4th to be exact). Well everything seemed regular.

I walked downstairs at 5:30 in the morning, went into the bathroom, and contemplated whether or not I should put my hair up.

Will it be hot today? It doesn’t seem hot now. But if it gets muggy I’ll totally regret not putting my hair up…

All while scrolling through Facebook to see if I had any new ‘likes’ or ‘comments’ on my clever farm posts. (Yeah, you know you do it, don’t deny it;)

Then I heard the dogs bark. I thought maybe it was an early-riser customer, but their barks didn’t seem like the bark of an intruder.

We recently have had something kill a few chickens and ducks (found out it was a mink) so I rushed out the door to see what Penny & Copper were so upset about.

It was the worst scenario.. ALL 6 pigs running around!

Around the farm store. In the corn field. Under the pine trees. Through the cow pasture. The only place they didn’t go was back into their pen.

I ran back in the house and yelled upstairs “THE PIGS ARE OUT!!

That’s the ONE thing you don’t want to hear when your all comfy in bed. If you’ve never had a rude awakening, that would be it.

Thank goodness those little oinkers will do anything for milk. They went right back into their pen through the wire panel they bent up & dug under.

And they didn’t even have to worry about getting zapped by the electric fence that lined the inside of the wire panel.

Why??

Because they had conveniently shorted it out by pushing their milk tub on top of it! (see pics below)

Smart pigs.

I didn’t think to get pictures of the pigs while they were having a hay-day but I did get some after-shots.. Enjoy!

The electric fence was rope wire. Too flimsy and saggy when it rained.

Did I mention 2 or 3 pigs will be going to the locker soon?
